Diversity

In search of toys that represent humans in all their diversity? Here's what we can contribute for now.

Of our 30 or so toy brands, most are blocks, wooden insect puzzles, etc...they don't represent humans.

Of our 4 toy brands that do represent humans:

  • All 4 are gender-balanced.
  • 2 bring ethnic diversity into your child's toys and so are included in this collection:
    • Playpress - flatpacked press-build-play toys include the full range of skintones and gender-stereotype-busting roles in each set
    • Rubens Barn Mini EcoBuds - gorgeous earth-kind dolls come in 2 skintones
  • 2 don't bring ethnic diversity and so are not included here:
    • Coco d'en Haut - shadow theatres neither represent nor exclude any ethnicity (shadows don't have colour!)
    • Marbushka board games only represent white-skinned humans. This is totally unacceptable and on realising this, we asked them to fix it, but they declined so we will discontinue these games once sold-out (we'd have sent them back but they wouldn't accept them).
  • 1 (Playpress) includes a person with a visible disability - we're working to increase this.

We also include here our books about diversity or featuring diverse characters (our books' primary focus is intentionally loving and protecting nature - we are an eco activist company - but they should also represent the diverse humans doing this around the world. Full book collection is here).
