Collection: Bio-plastic toys

Switching from petro- to bio-plastic is very high-up (#47) on Drawdown.org's list of our "carbon to-do's" as a civilisation to halt and reverse climate change. 

Because bio-plastic toys have a much smaller carbon footprint than petro-plastic toys.

They're not biodegradable - but then, they're not a single-use item - they are durable, long-lasting toys that won't degrade in the rain, the bath, the soil and this is good. They are recyclable along with petro-plastics.

The global toy industry is full of injection-molding machines. Creating the petro-plastic pellets to feed them releases so much carbon, it'd take over 1.2 billion trees to absorb it. We can't expect all big toy producers to switch from injection-molded plastic to locally-made, hand-carved wooden toys! But what if they started feeding their machines with plant-based bio-plastics instead? We see this as the most viable solution to this serious environmental issue that cuts to the core of this industry.

...So we are very, very happy to stock and distribute plant-based bio-plastic toys!

And our particular bio-plastic toys are extra-eco because:

• They're made in Europe for low toy-miles (although all the sugarcane-derived ethanol comes from Brazil); and
• Their packaging is plastic-free.
